action; joint post!

[The first problem was that neither of them knew where they were or how they got here or what was going one. The second problem was that Czeslaw was definitely acting actually ten years old and didn't know anything about immortals or immortality of even knew all that much about who Maiza was. And Maiza couldn't figure why this was happening. Answers, when you're lucky, tend to float around in your vicinity, and so they'd looked around the house they were in. So they looked around! And they didn't find any answers but they did find a large box of what Czes found familiar but couldn't figure out the name of, something Maiza recognized as dominoes. Czes was fretting, as Czeslaws tend to do before they grow immortal and two hundred years old, so they attempted to play a game but try as he might, Maiza couldn't get him to understand the rules and how-to of domino games and it really was boring for a kid like Czes.

Which is how, in the early afternoon, there is one grown man and one little child crouched outside on the steps with a bunch of dominos lined up and a pile of them waiting to be lined up. At one point, Czes tries to place one down at the end of the line but it tips over, sending the rest of their dominos falling down as well and both of them let out a surprised, "Aah!" before Maiza is laughing and Czes is sulking because this is probably the third time he's knocked it over. Would you care to join them, or wander over and ask what they're up to?]

[[ooc: both Czes and Maiza will (should) be responding to this! They're both affected by the event thing and Czes is from the 1700s while Maiza's returned to the beginning of the first novel (1930).

eta: this is written in a way that sounds like day 1, but there's no hard timeline! it can be any day]]

audio/action;

[audio;]
I'd like to start off by thanking everyone who came to... er, who came to help the owl a few weeks ago.

[Well there are no owl shenanigans this time, it seems, as the voice that speaks from this journal is most definitely speaking something human. Sounds like Maiza Avaro's finally back from being feathery]

[A sigh follows, then the voice continues.]
I don't understand how they managed, but I was turned into an owl for a while. It seems that I was able to return to how I originally was. I also would like to apologize to anybody I ended up scratching or pecking while I tried to communicate.

[action; community house 7, floor 5 room 23]
[The fluttering, fussy owl has been replaced by a quieter, calmer and much taller man. Back in his usual suit, glasses, and wearing a relieved expression on his face, Maiza is moving around the flat picking up any feathers he left lying around, then looking around for his flatmates so he can thank them for helping him out during the last couple weeks. He knocks on bedroom doors or approaches anyone sitting around the house, looking quite happy to be human, greeting whoever's there with a]

Since I'm able to do things around the house now, I thought I'd make dinner. 'S there anything in particular you want to eat?

[action; at that fountain]
[And it's so much faster to be on feet than to be in flight with wings he doesn't know how to use. The fountain looks tiny when you're not a foot and a half tall, and Maiza spends part of this afternoon sitting on it with a book to read. He was picking up some groceries, and has a couple of bags on the ground next to him, but he's in no hurry to go home.

He brought the book, but he just watches the scenery, mostly, saying hello to anyone who walks past that he makes eye contact with as not to be impolite.]

a bit of audio/action.

[audio]
[There is not a lot to the audio from Maiza today. Nobody is talking, but there is definitely something there, and that something is definitely attacking the journal. It hits it, sharply, then shoves it across -- judging from the sound of leaves and dirt dislodged by the moving journal -- the forest floor. It's followed by the rustle of wings close by the book, and some more scratching as the journal moves again.

The wings make noise again, although this time it sounds like it's flying. Clumsily so, one might note. The entry ends with the sound of wind blowing past and a loud thud as the journal hits the forest floor. Whatever bird was carrying Maiza's journal, it couldn't keep its grip.]

[action later on #1; the fountain]
[A couple hours after the entry, there is a brown owl sitting on the fountain in the village. He looks exhausted as he slumps on the journal he's got with him and hoots miserably at whoever passes by. Sometimes he spreads out his wings and rustles it to try to get attention, especially at people who Maiza Avaro may recognize. He's hungry. He's tired. Please help.]

[action #2; community house 7, floor 5 room 23]
[It's later in the afternoon, closer to evening, when an owl smacks into the window. It might have looked like it was trying to headbutt its way through the glass, but it's hard to tell. It disappears for a minute and returns to the window again, flying a little less steadily and now with a journal clasped in its talons. It stays at the window hoping someone will open it.]

action/audio later on.

[action; the village]
[He managed to get those pesky wings to stay flat against his back at least. It still feels weird, but he is happier now that he's got his clothes on and he made it out of the forest. He's still far, far away from New York though. That much he can tell. The white cotton clothes held in his hand, Maiza looks around in a wonder as he walks into what looks like a small village.

It doesn't look like anywhere he has been before. Narrowing his eyes, he will approach the nearest, friendly looking person.]

Pardon me, ah... could you explain to me where this is?

[audio; later on]
... I think I've got this figured out now. What an interesting contraption.

Hm.

I was told speakin' to this journal will allow me to speak with the other folks in this area. Thought I'd introduce myself, as from what I've heard we're all stuck in the same boat, here. [A pause.] My name is Maiza.

[Longer pause.... what do you even say to introduce yourself when you're talking at a journal?]
