[There is not a lot to the audio from Maiza today. Nobody is talking, but there is definitely something there, and that something is definitely attacking the journal. It hits it, sharply, then shoves it across -- judging from the sound of leaves and dirt dislodged by the moving journal -- the forest floor. It's followed by the rustle of wings close by the book, and some more scratching as the journal moves again.

The wings make noise again, although this time it sounds like it's flying. Clumsily so, one might note. The entry ends with the sound of wind blowing past and a loud thud as the journal hits the forest floor. Whatever bird was carrying Maiza's journal, it couldn't keep its grip.]

[A couple hours after the entry, there is a brown owl sitting on the fountain in the village. He looks exhausted as he slumps on the journal he's got with him and hoots miserably at whoever passes by. Sometimes he spreads out his wings and rustles it to try to get attention, especially at people who Maiza Avaro may recognize. He's hungry. He's tired. Please help.]

[It's later in the afternoon, closer to evening, when an owl smacks into the window. It might have looked like it was trying to headbutt its way through the glass, but it's hard to tell. It disappears for a minute and returns to the window again, flying a little less steadily and now with a journal clasped in its talons. It stays at the window hoping someone will open it.]

[As if Tsuzuki would ever pass up on an animal. He sits down by the fountain, careful not to spook the owl.]

Hi there, little guy.

[Tsuzuki is one of the gentlest (probably) people Maiza met, and so the owl just hops a little when Tsuzuki approaches. Part of him is very curious how these people just talk to owls like it's the normal thing to do but he's glad he's being paid attention to. It would be hard to do anything on his own.

He hoots. Hello.]

[Tsuzuki offers his hands as if it is the most natural thing in the world. They are warm, and he guesses that tiny owl feet get cold easily.]
I guess the winter must be rough. Are you hungry?

[He pauses for a second before raising his foot and climbing on, slowly.

He's certainly hungry. He hoots.]

I have some food at home. I was going to give it to the birds in the forest, but...

[Tsuzuki lifts his hand so Maiza actually has the chance to climb onto his shoulder if he wants.]

Hey, you know what? When you hoot like that it almost sounds like you understand me.

[He climbs up Tsuzuki's arm, though not all the way to his shoulders. He hoots and lowers his head, then raises it in his owlish sort of nod.]

[The nod actually makes it look like he wants to play. Tsuzuki grins brightly, patting his little feathery head as they walk.]

That's really neat. Want us to go to the bakery? Hoot twice for yes.

[He hoots three times. Can owls even eat bread?]

[They're going to find out. >:D]

Three times? I have no idea what that mans.

[He'll eat the raisins if you can find raisin break, definitely. :|b

But he keeps hooting, then hopping on Tsuzuki's arm a little.]

[Let's hope that the bakery allows owls in in the first place. He slows down, giving him a gentle petting. All the hooting just makes him sound very intent, or distressed.]

Don't be scared. I won't let anything happen to you. Just explain it to me slooowly.

[... He hoots again. This would be so much easier if Tsuzuki could understand owl, or if he could speak human. This was actually far more frustrating than anything he was anticipating in case the Malnosso decided to experiment on him.

Eventually he lets there be a moment's silent before he hoots, once.]

[Hoot... hooot. To be fair, Tsuzuki makes a hard attempt to understand, despite having to shot at it.]

Hoot once more if you're tempted to bite me.

[That is followed by silence. What kind of suggestion is that, Tsuzuki?]

[Tsuzuki shrugs, for once understanding exactly what that looks means. He's gotten it enough times.]

Hey, it's an important question! I just wanted to make sure you were one of the nice ones.

[If birds could sigh, he would sigh so much. Maiza puffs up and hoots again. He won't eat you 8|]

[Tsuzuki can't help but find it adorable. Reassured, he pats Maiza's fluffy head, trying to smooth down the feathers as he continues to walk.]

Hoot twice if you're cold.

[Cold? He guesses so as he settles back down, letting Tsuzuki pat his head without knowing if he should push back against the hand or duck from it. Oh well.

He hoots, twice, then steps closer to Tsuzuki's head in case he's cold too.]

[....Aw. Tsuzuki bumps his cheek against his wing.]

I know of someplace warm, so you won't be cold for long.

Is your family around here somewhere?

[His family. He's not sure if he's got any owl family flying around Luceti, but unless they disappeared during his absence, Maiza knows that his friends are somewhere nearby. Probably worried, too. But Tsuzuki doesn't realize who he is yet so there's no way to communicate that.

He hoots, hoping he doesn't sound too confused as he does.]
